Larry Zimmerman
Associate Pastor of Music
I was born in New York (upstate) and moved south with my family at age 9. I was raised Catholic, but towards the end of high school, I was no longer going to church. I did not attend a church again until age 21 when a friend invited me to a local non-denominational church. There, I heard the true gospel, repented of my sins, and committed my life to following Jesus. Over the next several years, I met my wonderful wife, Nissa, and finished a degree in Digital Media. Around the age of 28, I began working as a defense contractor developing simulations and training products for all branches of military and homeland defense. Around that same time, we joined with some friends who had planted a church in north Mount Pleasant, where we were invited to lead worship. We continued leading there until 2008 when the Lord brought us to Life Park Church, where we served on the worship team for 2 years. In July of 2010, I was hired as the part-time Worship Leader for the contemporary service, here at First Baptist. I served in that role until 2023 when I retired from defense contracting and was hired full time to serve as the Associate Pastor of Music.
The Lord has been gracious to us in many ways, providing all that we have ever needed and blessing us with two wonderful sons, Jude and Shepard.
